Here’s a bunch of interesting articles etc. that I’ve finally managed to catch up on after my holiday/Reading Festival.

I just caught a glimpse of the purple yahoo search interface. I hear it’s a rare beast.

It’s like a purple ‘web 2.0′ design, or something…
The suggested search drop down is pretty cool - I don’t know whether they do that normally or not?
This is going to be a little look into blog post usability. Being able to write well for the web or for your blog will be an important factor in how successful your blog is.
If people are unable to easily digest your content, they’re not going to share it or link to it. If you’re an unknown blogger in the bloated blogosphere, by at least creating coherent and well structured posts you’ll already be ahead of a lot of people.
Well I actually wrote this post on Monday, and if all has gone well, by the magic of wordpress, it’s published itself while I’m lying in the sun.
As I said before, I’m off to Italy but these few posts caught my eye before I left.
I was doing some keyword research just now trying to work out if there would be any opportunity for some kind of Harry Potter related website and look what two of the top keywords were:
With 3756 searches we see “harry potter nude” and with 3101 searches we have “harry potter porn”.
What is the world coming to? Clearly I’ll have to buy harrypotterxxx.com….

There’s been quite a few interesting posts related to the article I wrote about optimising your blog. As well as some other random/interesting posts. Anyway here’s my round up.
There are three separate areas of optimisation every blogger should focus on after they’ve optimally setup their blog. These are as follows, usability optimisation - the process of optimising the layout, navigation, content etc. of the blog. Performance optimisation - helping to make sure that if your blog is dugg or receives a spike in traffic it can cope and doesn’t keel over. And finally search engine optimisation - to ensure maximum exposure in the SERPs (search engine results pages).
Now I don’t claim to be the definitive authority in any of these fields but I will share with you what I’ve learnt so you can take away the parts you feel are relevant and apply them to your own blogs.
This will for the most part be focused on wordpress powered blogs but some points may be relevant to all blogging platforms.
